Range safety is primary; it promotes enjoyment for all
The following rules apply at all times on the LSC property:
Gun safety
Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction
Keep your firearm unloaded until ready to use
Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
Know your target and what is beyond
Know how to use the gun safely
Be sure the gun is safe to operate
Use only the correct ammunition for the gun
Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate
Never use alcohol or over-the-counter, prescription or other drugs before or while shooting
Store guns so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons
Be aware that certain types of guns and many shooting activities require additional safety precautions
Range safety
No alcoholic beverages are allowed on any range at any time.
Targets must always be placed fully downrange against the backstop or berm.
No person is to be forward of the firing line or to handle any firearm or ammunition while any person is downrange. All firearms must be unloaded with actions open and left at the firing line.
If any person at the range observes any unsafe condition on or beyond the range, they are to immediately shout and keep shouting "Cease Fire" until all shooters have become aware of the situation. All firearms on the range are to be immediately made safe and all shooters should depart from the firing line.
All persons on a range (including spectators) shall wear both eye and ear protection.
All club ranges are COLD ranges - i.e. No loaded firearms are permitted except those at the firing line being used by shooters. However, those who hold a Massachusetts class A LTC may carry a loaded concealed firearm.
Clean up all brass on and in the immediate facility of the firing line when you are finished shooting. Remove used targets from the range. Leave the range ready for the next shooter.
General Club Rules
Guests are allowed provided they are accompanied on the property by a member. Guests who use the facilities on a regular basis should be encouraged to join as full members.
No indiscriminate rapid firing is allowed on any range. (However, rapid fire as a course of competition in which shots must be placed under a clock on an appropriate target is allowed.)
If you observe anyone violating any of these rules, contact any club officer and report the incident as soon as possible. Violation of these rules render you liable to disciplinary action or removal from club membership.
